George Grosz (1893-1959) was a revolutionary artists who created many of the defining images of Weimar Germany. To Grosz, art was a weapon. As a radical Dadaist, and the German Communist Party's leading propagandist, he waged a war against bourgeois hypocrisy and corruption. He was an aggressively political artist whose work served a revolutionary cause.

Or was he?
Was George Grosz an idealist who believed in change, or was he really a cynic who believed in nothing?

Was he an optimist who adored America or a pessimist who loathed humanity?

The Many Face of George Grosz by Keith McDougall is a graphic biography of this enigmatic and contradictory man.
